This was painted back in 1998. Along with the Gladiator, he is my favourite of all the Jes Goodwin Ogres.

Thanks a lot. Yeah, it was a period when I painted a lot of checks on my figures. It was a little stressful actually. I have a Bretonnian Knight that won a Golden Demon silver award and there were a lot of checks on that. I'll post that up soon. I think it put me off doing checks again for life because I never really do them now.
 
Good stuff, I'd like to see the Bretton, and anything else really.
I commend you for having the balls to not only check the Ogre but his victim's pants too :grin:
 
Thanks again. I really would feel hard pushed to do a repeat of those checks now. I'll post that knight up.
 
As soon as I saw your ogre I knew I had to have one too, so I went straight to ebay to look for one. Imagine my surprise when I found one with no bids ending in one hour. Imagine my further surprise when I won it for a tenner. Imagine my even further surprise when I realised the eBay seller was ex-White Dwarf editor Robin Dews! If anyone is interested I can post a pic (it's a rough paint job though).

Love the paint job as well by the way outstanding work, never been able to do checks :(

That was a tenner well spent. Yeah I had seen on Facebook that Robin Dews was putting a load of old figs on. Still haven't checked out his stuff yet - if there's any left. I had one years ago in the 80's but it disappeared over time. This one I ordered a week before Golden Demon in 1998 in a last ditch attempt to enter another category after I already finished two entries earlier in the month. After he arrived on fast despatch I had three days to get him done. He made the first cut but missed out on the final three; never mind.
