I have been working on these chaps on and off for some time, - i'll let you chaps (if you want) identify the figures and what i have converted (it's not much) -.
My warband of Tzeentch - (just the chaos warriors). WIP - i did an hour or so today on them. - i want to say a joy to paint but honestly, they were a massive pain, some of the most awkward figures i have ever painted. They are quite "old hammer!"

Ah, the SS3 Knights of Chaos and SS1 v2 Champions of Chaos! great models and what a giant dwarf (?) head you have stuck on Belmoth Blacksword!!

I do like the yellow tones you have used, they balance nicely with the darker armor metallic ;)

I own all of these models, although unpainted, so may I may ask what was so 'painful' about painting them?

Cheers

Thanks for the comments chaps - bad angle on the photo to see the head(s) - yes i cut Belmoths head off and replaced it with a dark elf and dwarf head. I figured Tzeentch is a dick like that. Can you id the dwarf and dark elf heads? ;)
- They were awkward to paint for a number of reasons, some of the cast was - let's say quite rough. Some of the detail was tricky to get to - overall they were sharp and unforgiving - and still are - i want to do some more work on them i am not really satisfied with them.
To be brutally honest i think i have painted one of these models about 4 times and everytime it comes out looking like shi* - :(

plastic heads from fantasy warrior set or whatever it was called. 10 skaven, orcs, gobos, dwarves, wood elves, and dark elves.

I think you did a great job with the painting, but I really dislike everything about those models.

I really like the helmet of the one second from left, but on the whole they aren't great models. Still, as you've painted them, they come together nicely as a tabletop unit. I like their anarchic feel, and also lots of metal on chaos warriors instead of all bright colours.

Good spot on the heads MBH - yea those plastic heads from the regiments box set - i think i will have those forever in my bits box! - I am not really happy with the paint but i suspect i won't be able to improve them much so i'll make do.
Scalene - thanks also for the comment, i agree they look "ok" all together, as standalone minis some are well.. awful (only my op) - as for the armor - in some of the earlier attempts i had tried for a bright NMM "tzeentch" colour scheme - but i couldn't get the colours to tie together - somehow the models looked unfinished.. Not sure how to explain it.
