Buggy Bugman’s…

Some of my old Bugman’s Rangers are a little softly cast, these 2 chaps particularly… has anyone else had this problem?

Think I will try to cover them up with some greenstuff sculpting (more beard and helmet)! Will help bring some variety to the troops too.

Original? just... that softness is kinda putting me in mind of a re-mould.. not just softness but from pictures I've seen, some details didn't cast too well in your examples..

end of the day.. doesn't matter too much.. but it makes it easier to putty them up ^_^

it happens at times ^_^ maybe the dust on the mould was running a bit thin and they then didn't catch that when bulking them out. I'm not sure how much of an assembly line GW had at the time.

I'm just naturally.. erm.. sceptic or pessimistic.. not sure if there is much difference there. ^_^

Gosh I'd say they'd seen better days, but I suspect that was indeed poor molding and quality checking ... still got the raffle ticket from the box? See if anyone kept records from back in the day and demand a replacement! GW big up their lifetime returns on the website I see :)

Still on the plus side they are perfect dollies to sculpt on. Have a look at the Bood Dwarf thread from @dazza36 for some inspiration and lots of lovely photos of bits of oversculpting. I'm sure you're already seen it, but there is a pinned list of tutorials, some of which are techniques for sculpting. Certainly helms and beards would avoid the need for doing too much face!

Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with these two.

Had a bit of a play covering up those melted faces with bushy beards, new helmets and nose guards!
Not too bad for a first go at sculpting…
