Brush on primer?

Hi,

Anyone knows strong reliable brush on primer for steel, nails, wire and such, uselable in hobby amounts?

Based in UK. Doing some scenery and finding myself with lot of metal bits exposed for painting but they are at very high risk of being fondlet a lot and manhandled (dried out tree branches made out of steel wire just below crown of a tree to be exact, huh, i just take a photo).

Yes, i hope to prime them somehow

For something like that I would use gesso mixed with a bit of tile grout. Durable, takes paint well (well, it is designed for that), gets rock hard (due to the tile grout), and depending on the amount of tile grout you also get instant structure, if that is what you are after.

debatable but I use Vallejo AV Surface Primer but since getting an airbrush, I use the same thing for airbrushing as its kinda mixed for that, but can be painted on. as to how strong it really is.. not sure.. seams pretty good but I'm not the best at using such thing right.

Thats any good for tiny elements? Tempted to give it a try just dont have anyone with a scoup of tiling grout around at the moment Could you list alternative sample uses for it? Maybe would be worth for me to go for it as I have a lot of projects waiting for me model (buildings mostly)

The Mapei 2.5KG bags of coloured grout are quite well suited to the model maker - being more modest sized bags without being stupidly overpriced (about £10). Places like B&Q will carry stock. Generally you can use tile grout in with lots of surface coverings to help provide some texture and as a robust cement a rather solid finish, so mixed in with sand and PVA and the like.

I use Vallejo AV Surface Primer too... it brushes on fine. Army Painter just started making their own but only in a small 20ml bottle for now.
