BOYL 22 Death and Taxes

Vyper

Vassal
Hi all,

This year we'll again be taking over a 12x6 table all day Friday to run to run a Lustria-themed game. Again, we are looking for participants who wish to join in.

After years of struggle with native men and beasts, Estalian, Tilean and Empire forces have established numerous communities along the Lustrian coastlines. One such Estalian community/supply base just off the Jurua river (a tributary of the Amazon) has recently been raided by a native tribe which has taken back much of the gold, trinkets and baubles that the colonisers so desire. Now, one of the Estalian kingdoms has landed a force of mercenaries and 'tax collectors' by the settlement, aiming to retrieve these items.

Rules:
We'll be aiming to use 7th edition as our base set of rules, as it runs pretty quickly. We're happy for people to use whatever army books they like through 3rd-7th editions, historical, homemade or whatever and we'll find a way to make it work! We'll be eschewing wizards to keep the game running quickly, and we don't particularly care about points.

Depending on number of players and army sizes, we may split off the flanks and let them go at their own speed. If you'd like to bring a friend and play off against each other on a flank using your preferred rules system then that's great too.

What players need to bring:
Dice, measures and models ideally! Also a copy of the army book you'll be using.

The Forces:
The tax collectors will mostly be human and dwarf mercenaries (although feel free to bring some poncy Elves, I guess!)
The natives will be local tribespeople, amazons, lizardmen, slann and whatever else could conceivably live in Lustria.

Sorely tempted, though probably we will have our Warlords of Albion game on the Friday and if so I'll be all in on that.

I should point out, however, that "Poncy Elves" are easily as likely to take the side of the Slann, Amazons, and other Lustria dwellers as the dwarves! Why should they support greedy colonisation of the new world by young upstart races when they've got a long history of imperial conquest - er I mean trade and diplomatic relations - in Lustria themselves? The dwarves and humans can sod off!

I of course meant the more civilized kinds of elves that might have been domesticated by virtue of proximity to the Empire - although I'm sure there would be enough that would side with the locals as well. At the very least they'd have to be on an opposite flank from any dwarves!

It just so happens, that I painted up a few Amazonion types last year for the OWAC, so happy to provide a few figures for this, just remind me which book is seventh edition!

I'll leave the Lizardmen / Slann at home this year.

They look grand, will be great to have you there.

It's this book, or the mini one that game with the Skulls Pass set. It's functionally pretty similar to 6th (but with a bunch of errata baked in). Feel free to use whatever rules/stats you think appropriate for your troops!
