Black cat bases

Dooz

Seems like i lost my money....
2 months i ordered a few minis from black cat bases, nothing big really just 15£ worth. Got an automatic reply from and was charged on eBay. Time went by and i grew a bit impatient, but on the other hand i have plenty minis to paint. I send them a few mails, but get no reply.
A few weeks ago i check their webpage and notice a message, stating that they are struck by poor health or something. But that they will resume bossiness and work through and dispatch their orders. All good i think, i just wait.

Today however, I see that their website is down... That's is, I decide to go to paypal and dispute the payment. This is when I discover that because it's been more than 45 days since i made my purchase, it's not possible to get my money back.

Lesson learned then, at least I did not order too much from them....

Sorry to hear that Dooz. There's a long thread about this over on LAF and it seems that after a flurry of complaints in the last few weeks the site was taken down. It should have been done months ago as the shopping cart still worked on the site and people were still placing orders.

Its a pity as they did some great stuff, hopefully someone will pick up the ranges.

Their website is up and running again, I will however advise people to show caution if ordering from them

I can`t recommend them and after having to hunt down my money and reclaim it via Paypal I will never order from them again. This has been going on for ages now.

MODERATOR EDIT:

We have edited this post to highlight the issue that Black Cat Bases have been unresponsive to orders for a considerable time period. In addition, customers requesting updates have run into walls and had to resort to opening Paypal disputes to reclaim their payments.

In light of these issues, we must assume that Black Cat Bases have essentially stopped trading (also, their UK company registration has apparently elapsed). The fact that they are still taking orders and continue to accept Paypal payments is disconcerting, to say the least. Numerous reports of poor (or rather, no service) have been posted to this thread, which will remain open for people to inform themselves and post updates on their own situation with regard to Black Cat Bases.

Moderator Edit Update 2014-11-24

Going from official records, it appears that Black Cat Bases were dissolved as a limited company as early as of June 2010, but continued trading.

As of November 2014, their website is offline as well.

Strangely the Site is back up and running again without further information.

I can only reiterate, do not order from them and throw your money away, people who ordered for several hundred pounds as early as 2013 still haven`t gotten a single response.

I can symphatize with personal Problems and Health issues, but keeping the shop open and still taking orders and peoples hard earned money, knowing that you are unable to fulfill those orders is just wrong. At the same Time while the haven`t answered any requests they have been selling and conducting bussiness via their Ebay Shop, so I do not Buy that "our Internet is troubling us" talk.

There seem to be a handful of orders in between that reach people but not nearly enough to make it a safe bet.

I do not wish them ill, but you do not treat your loyal customers this way, you simply don`t.

Shame, they had a lot of nice niche miniatures whic I would have loved to order.

Hello,

1. re: monthly updating, that might well be the case.

2. re: ebay (UK) shop check out their links here:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/War-Gaming-Miniatures
http://cgi3.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... rid=jo8673

(Seller is 'jo8673', highly rated, same logo and introduction re: Simba, links back to black cat bases website, etc, so clearly these are the same peoples)

To reiterate, I wish their ebay shop did sell the miniatures that I wanted featured in their blackcatbases.com catalogue, I would've bought them in a heartbeat. Alas they don't, but still they've been buying and selling stuff on ebay for the past 7 months so perhaps 'internet connectivity' is more to do with their actual webpage/shop since their ebay trading is completely unaffected.

In any case I completely agree with you, if they are unable to make good on their orders their website/shop should be closed. Until then I will have to await a response and/or escalate dispute with Paypal to get my money back.

Some People had found them selling Stuff via their Ebay accounts while not having the Time to respond to order inquiries and stating recuring Internet Problems. One of those Accounts seems to be down now and the other slent since June, they probably realized that it doesn`t sit well with people AND People started to contact them via that Account as well regarding their Black Cat Orders.

I don`t know how bad their situation is and I really wish them well Health wise, but there where so many oppurtunities to deal with this Situation differently. People called them , wrote them, offered their Internet Connection, even offered to help out for free with their dispatch of orders , customer communication and casting (honestly, customers offering to help out for free just so you can get back on your feet, never saw that one before)....no reaction.

Its a conscious desicion to not react to any inquiry in over 12 Months. A honest Post in the Forums (where they have been active before the whole mess started), more information on their Page or something similar would have gone a long way.
If an order goes out in between its most of the Time AFTER a paypal Dispute was raised. They are doing serious damage to their bussiness with the way they are handling Things.
