Battle Damage

As is sometimes the way a model gets damaged, dropped, chipped etc.

I recently dropped one of my favourite models and the nose got dinged, I repainted it. However as I could not be bothered to strip it, I just added some paint as close to the colour of the original skin as I could.
Now, there is a good to high chance that no-one else will spot the repair.

But I know it is there.
I am thinking about what to do long term, touch them up, leave them as reminders of the fact they got used, other?

What do you do when models get a bit scuffed, leave them or try and fix them?

Running repairs are a fact of Oldhammer life, I'm afraid. Our little lead buggers are delicate flowers even when protected with decent primer & varnish.

Do you keep a recipe book of paints used per model? I find that it helps when it comes to touch ups though it's no protection against things going OOP, formula changes & whatnot.

The torture of the chip ... one reason I wince when I see how some people handle their miniatures and chuck them into boxes - here I am carefully wrapping each in it's own little piece of silk, etc, etc ;)

I generally try to touch up as best I can, but without crazy effort.

Yeah this is massive arse ache.I'm starting to think there's some figs I have that I'll only use for a 'home match'.
Either cos they're well painted - or just frail. Speshuly this newfangled plastique.

I touch up. I don't go so far as to keep a scrap book, save for a few colors I've blended over the years, but I use a fairly limited palate and I know my own taste. Occasionally it's a little more work, but I really only strip and start over if it's a paint job I really don't care for anymore, and a miniature I really really like.
