Axiom's Miscellaneous RT Figures Thread

Looks great mate, but I agree with your sentiment that they're running the risk of looking too uniform. I'm almost thinking "Blood Bowl team" when I see them. =)

On the topic of moustaches, no range is so heavy on the porn staches as the Metal Magic Fantasy range. :)

It's a very fine line, isn't it? I'm aiming for uniformity without having uniforms, if you know what I mean. The restricted palette is deliberate to try and tie each faction together, but there is that risk. What I don't like is when a warband has no visual link at all...so I think I'm safe on that score ;) The next addition clearly cannot have purple trousers and a yellow hat!

I starting to believe those pirates with their moustaches, weird outfits and bent backs were meant as space grand-dads or something...

I debated long and hard whether or not to give this guy grey hair too! I suppose they've definitely got a world-weary look to them ;)

I guess it is just the fashion or gang colours within that bunch. Much like real life gangs really.

It is, a lot of us are aiming at the same result, so far I've tried to work on the teams as a whole by applying a particular set of tying colours until I only have details left. I then move on each particular model and allow myself different spot colours to give them more individuality. Can't say it's the best method really but it's a compromise I'm ok with. Having gangs of completely different models and paintjobs is fun and looks RT but it makes the whole thing a bit messy and lacks the opportunity of giving depth (which can be good if you only want regular jack of all trades models).
I get the BB feeling but I think it works well anyway, maybe adding a few spot colours to give them each a little variation would do but a cohesive force is also very appealing imho.

That group is looking better and better. Some of those old pirate models are a bit quaint, but tying them together with a strong colour scheme makes it all work out.

I dont see the strong uniform look to be a bad thing. Whether its realistic or not palette uniformity makes for more satisfying miniature painting projects in my experience, plus it works well on the table. Tying themes through miniatures in the same group is really important in my book. Im not sure that its possible to overdo it, but YMMV of course.

More please! Are they going to eventually end up with a vehicle or a trading post or something?

Thanks Dooz :)

I'm pretty much of the same view - I would rather have aligned figures clearly visually part of the same 'team' than not. Of course, it potentially eliminates realignment, but I don't think I can cater for all eventualities.

I have a few more additional figures to round this gang out - some pilots, another Guilder and yet another hired gun. Plus the sentinel loader I converted up a month or so back is destined for them too. Eventually there will be a bit of a trading post, yes...but I think figures first ;) ...plus there's the Ash Waste Nomads, Scavvies, Techs, aliens and Genestealer Cult to do...
