Anyone know what this was all about?

Apparently they had a few Warhammer / Rogue Trader articles in the run.

I started following some leads on this but it's going to take a few emails ;) i was hoping to have some kind of tie-in to an Australian Oldhammer event

That looks like a fantastic resource  purple worm was my next stop but looks like it should have been my first ;) when all this warband stuff is done with I'll sit down and start making some connections :) cheers zoggin!

All good mate. I had a look all around last time the magazine was mentioned here. Australian Realms is one of those things I'm not entirely sure if I remember! It's a little before my time, but still familiar. Perhaps I've seen it a few times in second-hand/discount bins in game stores.

Aha! Good to hear you guys are on the case.

FWIW I read on the Acaeum (D&D collectors site) of these changing hands for around 20USD - so definitely worth picking up if you see them in bargain bins ;)

What can I say, well I do remember an advert in White Dwarf, possibly between 90 - 120 as it appeared quite "late". Also the email address at the bottom of the purple worm doesn't look right, too many dots, the original post has it in-tact here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... Z_k4FqzCD8

Just to hilight the stuff of interest :

#3 August 1988:
THE FINAL MEASURE - Malcom Adler - War Trolls in Warhammer 40,000.
SPACE RATS - Colin Taber - Our favourite bad-critter, the skaven adapted for play in Warhammer 40,000.

#4 October 1988

THUMP, CRUNCH, SPIT - Steve Masters - A Warhammer Fantasy Battle scenario, Orcs versus Dwarves and the title says it all.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN? THE INQUISITION? - More Warhammer 40,000. A look at the nice people in charge of Imperial purity.

#5 November 1988
PSYKERS! - Andrew Johnstone and Colin Taber - Expanded psionics in WH40K. New powers.

#7 August 1992
SEA ELVES IN WARHAMMER FANTASY - Colin Taber - Background material, and class information for the Sea Elf character race. Even Games Workshop said they liked this treatment.
PSYKERS II - Expanding the talents available to psionicists in Warhammer 40,000. A sequel to the issue 5 article.

#8 1992
WARHAMMER 40,000 ROLE-PLAY - We have waited for a long time for a role-playing version of Warhammer 40,000...Realms staffers got fed up waiting and devised these conversion rules.

#9 1993
WARHAMMER 40,000 ROLE-PLAY, Part II - The unofficial conversion completed.

Plus interviews with Greg Stafford and Gary Gygax which will be of interest to Runequest and D&D fans too.

Well dug that man!

I really enjoyed reading that. A few things I would have changed (mostly make them more exotic and annoying), but it's a decent treatment. And hey, Colin Taber is a dude who writes "dark fantasy / alternate history" books, have a look here: http://www.unitedstatesofvinland.com/

Haven't forgotten about BOYL Down Under just getting smashed at work lately cutting into hobby time

I've seen things you wouldn't believe...

I dropped Colin Taber (author of the Space Skaven & Sea Elves articles) an email asking for any info on his Australian Realms contributions and although he's really busy with publishing deadlines, and an upcoming book tour (maybe some of our antipodean members could show some support, and badger him about Oldhammery stuff! ) said he'd try and dig something out of his archives. Very cool!

Long shot, but any update on this? Would still love to see that Sea Elf article as it appeared on the pages on Australian Realms (wondering what pretty pictures there might have been)...
