Are Pistols Missile Wepons?

Well actually are weapons listed in Warhammer 3rd as 'Gunpowder Weapons' also missile weapons, more importantly can you purchase magic missiles detailed in Warhammer Armies for them?

My WFB contents page shows the main heading:

MISSILE WEAPONS: 87

then Gunpowder Weapons as a sub heading within Missile Weapons, as page 88.

So yes, I would say so, as they are within the Missile Weapons category.

Page 14 of Warhammer Armies does say that the effects "apply to bolts, javelins, sling stones and any missiles"
That would say yes you can have magic shot.
I mean if you can enchant a stone for a sling, why not a bullet for a pistol?

The next, powergamer, question is what limits when you can use the magic missile ability with the pistol as it can be used in close combat as well as a missile weapon?

Are its magic abilities turned on when fired as a missile weapon but turned off when used in close combat?

If turned on at all times a close combat Hail of Doom could be an interesting shock for your opponent

Ha.

I guess when used in HTH there is the argument that you can only attack those you are in base to base contact with, and so you can't kill anything other than those you are in base to base with?
It also uses WS when in HTH rather than BS which also furthers the HTH base to base rather than BS shooting phase.

That would be my thinking....
So you could fire hail bullets, but as you are only in BtB with 1 model and it is the HTH phase, you can only kill 1 model.
