Anyone used a spray cabinet?

Anyone used a spray cabinet for undercoating or airbrushing? Any good? Does the fan need to be left on after spraying or can it be switched off almost immediately?

If you're using non-toxic paints with an airbrush, you don't really need one if you have any kind of ventilation because all most spray booths do is disperse the particulates. If you're spreading toxic paints you do need one and you need an expensive one that hooks into your ventilation system or feeds straight to a window.

I'd leave the fan on for a little while after to catch anything still floating around.

I made one on the cheap with a bathroom fan and a foam type filter, so it doesn't clog and reduces the re-circulation of paint, set in a 5 sided, clear plastic box. The main idea was to minimise spray drift around the room from coating everything. I don't use toxic paint but you should still wear at least a dust mask with a spray booth, if not some more serious RPE, 'cause any particulates getting in your lungs isn't gonna do you much good.
