Anyone tried Fantasy Warlord or Fantasy Warriors?

I've been interested in both these games for a while, and I've got and read through the rulebooks. Does anyone have experience with how they play?

I'm thinking of either trying one as written, or chopping and changing the WFB turn sequence to accommodate more command and control elements, based on one of the FWs.
