Alternatives to Space Ork Arms / Weapons

Hey people,

I did a quick search, but couldn't find much on this.

I was wondering if you guys have had much success with alternatives to Space Ork arms and Weapons: www.solegends.com/citcat911/c2083orkplasticz-h.htm

I've seen some people mention that using the current Goblin arms might work, but I haven't seen pictures of the results. Anyone tried? How'd it work out?

Cheers.

I can't really help on the arms front (though the modern ones do fit and look pretty cool, if overly muscly) I cannibalised Space Crusade miniatures for their weapons, specifically:
*the Marine Commander's Power Sword (just carefully cut it away from the power fist)
*the Marine Commander's Power Axe (ditto)
*one of the Orks has a very sexy power sword and a combi weapon, both very easy to remove.

Here's some Goffs with the Marine Power Swords (very similar to the RT Ork P.Sword in appearance)

and the Power Sword from the Ork

Also, RTB01 Marine arms are the same size.

I had the same question when putting my 2nd edition stuff together. To be honest there isn't a single answer, I found different arms worked for different models. The modern ork arms fit pretty well with the Goffs I had while they were far too big for the Blood Axes where I used a mixture of Catachan and chaos Marauder arms I bought from a bits seller. I tried night goblin arms, they were too short and skinny in my opinion.

I'd love it if someone produced an alternative as the original arms are really plain and hard to get good poses with. The Catachan ones gave a good bit of variety while also having appropriate muscle but getting enough for an army of orks would add up quick!

Count me in! How hard would it be to get something like that off the ground do you think? Need to track down a sclupter and make him an offer he can't refuse.

I stumbled on a bunch of Resin bootlegs a few years ago, but was too pious to buy them. Maybe I should have just bit the bullet as I have a ton of armless Orks just languishing in the lead pile.

Bruno - Some really inspiring pictures there mate, thanks for going to the effort of posting them! I would never have thought about cannibalizing the Space Crusade miniatures, but now gonna have to take out the craft knife and get slicing.

Thanks guys!

Just so you get an idea of what happens when mixing 2nd ed orks with newish arms :

That said they won't do on early RT orks. One intersting thing though is that Early space orks hands are exactly teh size of human Inquisitor (54mm) hands... getting those hands is even tougher than to get plastic arms though so that info might no be THAT relevant...

My, Grandma, what big hands you have....... ;)

On a serious note, if you want any newer Ork arms I may be able to help.
Send me a PM if you want me to dig for 'em.
