Alternate oldhammer miniatures?

Still one miniature and I will finish my first realm of chaos warband (see my showroom's topic for more details).
So I'm considering what miniatures could join the warband during the campaign. Probably more Dark Elves Black Guards (I've still three models and I want to paint them), but next? And I will include another chaos undivided warband (with a yet painted champion and about 4 human brigands as initial retinue). I've yet several OOP citadel beastmen, chaos warriors, sorcerers, thugs and champions but I lack of the other citadel models (orcs, ogre, goblins etc).
I could like the idea to include some harpies, just because my champion and retinue are dark elves who begin in Naggaroth and move over the watchtowers to the realm of chaos. Maybe some Harpies could join the warband. Unfortunatelly I really don't like the OOP Citadel Harpies :(
But I still could want some oldhammer style harpies (not the new models from citadel that have bat wings). So I considered the wargames foundry harpies, they seem from oldhammer age, what do you think (I'm an heretici?), and the founder of the company is bryan ansell so the link between oldhammer and foundry is net:

I've yet some kev adams heartbreaker orcs and goblins too that I could use.
I've some Ral Partha Crucible Witch Elves too that could be fine for a Slaanesh warband or again in the Tzeentch warband (I could use them as dark elves assassins):

I was considering to buy the metal chaos ogres too, they are not so old, but I like them, they still have an old school look.

There are other miniature ranges that have a nice oldhammer look or include in their catalogue some miniatures done from our old school scultors? Thanks.

Use whatever miniatures you want, if you do like them then this is fine !

There are no such things like Oldhammer Miniatures, a lot of people here do like the old Citadel and Marauder ranges but there are no limitations !

For my part I do use old Citadel miniatures but I do mix them with others from Ral Partha, Grenadier, RAFM, Metal Magic, TSR, Reaper, Harlequin, Heartbreaker, Grendel, Foundry, Otherworld, Crooked Claw, Hasslefree, my own range, etc, etc, etc...

If you need harpies, you can still get the Asgard harpies. I can't remember who had the European rights though.

Use whatever you like the look of. If you're a mad-keen Citadel collector, stick to that. Otherwise, there's a whole world of models out there to use.

Personally, I buying new models and enjoy supporting companies that still make old/old style models. For an 80's, even 70's and 90's vibe, I suggest:

Old models - Ralpartha/Iron Wind Metals, mirliton, Vikingforge (Asgard), Foundry. Reaper come across as more modern RPG, but there are tons of good models in the range. Of course there are lots of individual sculptors and smaller businesses to support. Or if you have a favourite sculptor, see what small businesses that also sell the odd model from them (try rounding up every company Kev Adams has worked with, for instance).

Which metal chaos ogres do you mean? The 2000's GW 6th edition ones? If so, you're one of the first to like them! (Actually, I saw them painted well for the first time recently and was impressed. Goes to show you shouldn't just go along with what "everyone else" says about a model.)

(By the way, telling people on this forum who Bryan Ansell is, is a little redundant!)

Thanks for the suggestions, I found the viking forge website, but there aren't the harpies :(

I like the foundry harpies with bird wings (not the bat wings), they seem a second edition of the original citadel harpies ;) Who is the sculptor of these foundry harpies?

If I will use some alternate miniatures, I will try to use only old school style models, I yet enjoy to buy and paint several miniatures from various small companies, as maidenhead miniatures, miniature figures, scotia grendel, brigade games etc etc

The chaos ogre I like are these:

I suppose they are the awful 2000 GW 6th ogres
I just like them for their heavy armors and because they still have an old school look (sure not as the new "mongol" ogres).
I was considering to change their heads too, or use only the helmet heads, and maybe some little conversions... I like the idea of paint them as bigger chaos warriors (maybe with closed helmets)

AA have a Bob Olley (afaik) harpy as part of the VNT set, but to the best my knowledge I've never seen any of the Asgard harpies as part of their back catalogue.
And a beauty it is too

To be honest, I wouldn't know an award model if you hit me in the face with it. Sometime told me that those harpies on the alternative armies site were asgard and I didn't know any better

Study guide! http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Category:Asgard

I went for Otherworlds Harpies (still in a box :() the sculpting isn't particularly 80s, having more finesse than the chunky ones citadel put out, but a heavy 1970s Harryhausen vibe, so I like them a lot.

and this thread I look at some Ral Partha and OW ogres: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=329

:? I really could not love these old harpies, but I don't like the new citadel models with bat wings, seem that the foundry miniatures will be the best choice... but I feel me wrong for use not citadel miniatures :(

Yeah. Sometimes a project gets difficult when you want to stick to one manufacturer or period.

If you want to go 100% 80s citadel, and don't mind a bit of conversion (well, it is Realms of Chaos), perhaps some ME-84 eagle wings on Wardancer bodies? I used to use those on my Eldar Swooping Hawks Exarch and they size nicely. Might be expensive tho.

Or if you're not bothered about living in the 80s, the current Dark Eldar Scourges, but cut the guns off, use spears and swords.

Re: AW: Alternate oldhammer miniatures?

Those are very nice wood elves.
I did not know that they make such miniatures.
From my memory I connect Thunderbolt mountain with dragons an wizards with glas crystals only. :?
Weird.

If you are looking for harpies, check Excalibur I think there are five different ones. Ral Partha has an old Dark Eye harpy. Both old Werner Klocke sculpts.
Metal Magic had one too. Maybe Midlam sells it now

I'm not big on those old harpies either, the Foundry ones are just better to my eye but still fit the style of other old Citadels.
I've got no qualms about mixing old and new, Citadel with Ral Partha and Grenadier... as long as the styles kind of match (or can be made to match). There are new GW figures I like as well (those big Nurgle monsters) and wouldn't hesitate to use them. I figure my paints and bases on them will help tie it all together visually.
My Slann and Chaos come from a whole host of manufacturers. Is it bad that I've got Eureka pygmies riding an Arachnorox? That I've got Rackham celts in amongst my Chaos thugs?
When I get started on Norsca I doubt there will be a single Citadel figure among them.

Re: AW: Alternate oldhammer miniatures?

Yeah, and given the current exchange rate & shipping costs their fairly reasonably priced at the moment, if you have a large order 8-)
