Agents of Altdorf

I recently met up with Jeff McC to play some Mordheim, his Skaven vs my Undead. We ended up playing two games and had a smashing good time. In the end we decided that we should get together for a rematch, but should each bring a fresh warband to mix things up. As a bonus, it serves as a strong motivator for me to sit down and paint through some models.

For an entire warband that's ~12 models in two weeks. That works out to a model a day with a few slip days.

I've always had a soft spot for the early 90s Empire figures and had coincidentally won a lot of them on fleaBay, so I decided that I would use this as an excuse to paint some of them up. After painting legions of Undead in drab colors nothing could be more different then the bright colors of the Imperial Soldiers. I decided that my men would be not very subtle imperial agents from Altdorf, sent by the Emperor to access the situation in the damned city. Taking a touch of inspiration from Battlemasters, I decided to go for a gaudy Red and Blue scheme with strong white and yellow highlights. The result is below, almost one week ahead of schedule!

I need to retouch this fellow's facial expression, but I'm very happy with how the shield came out.

For Sigmar and the Emperor!

Brilliant job, I love the variation in colour scheme and pattern throughout the unit: it makes them look cohesive without looking uniform and it really pops. I think that was my favorite tip from the Eavy Metal painting guide.

Great looking warband! Sadly, I'm not quite so far along (and only have 6 to paint), but think I'm still tracking to be finished in time.
