ADD5 - ILLUSIONIST Variant discovered?

Heyho Hammerers,

i have a question about the DD5 Illustionist Pose 2.

Bought a bunch of Citadel and some other Miniatures. In this mix was the Illusionist from Citadel in all 3 Poses. BUT, the 2nd pose he do a bad gesture with his right Hand.
Showed each page i know, ebay etc. but don't found something.
My questions, was this a very rare Variant or has someone of you the same Guy with this bad Finger? Show the pics and ask what you think....

If this Hand was a miscast or damaged, than it was perfect. The thump was at the right place and the other fingers too. I was thinking too, that it was a miscast or convertion before i stripped the Paint.

I stripped himself and don't spot any conversion, glued hand etc.. That's why i'm wondered
 
That is quite intriguing. The original figure has his hand with palm facing to the floor. Does this figure have his palm facing upwards as you would expect if the sculpt was deliberate?

Yip, his palm is facing upwards and his entire hand looks very naturally e.g. if someone was do this gesture.
I'm trying to do some better pics later.
 
I'd put my money on one of two things: a converted model that someone's recast again, or b: one of the GW mouldmakers having a laugh.

I mention the latter, as I've been there when a mouldmaker (who will remain nameless!) did a similar thing to one of the Eldar harlequins, and chucked it in the production mould. Obviously you'd only get one mould lifespan's number of him, and there was only one converted figure in a mould with a dozen or so otherwise identical figures on, so it'd be quite a rarity.
