About those old Citadel/Marauder clamshell packaging...

Normally I wouldn't ask, but is there a way to open those old Citadel/Marauder clamshell containers without breaking it - for later re-use? I haven't handled one of these since ~1991 - a pack of 4 Perry Pistoliers - and forgot how I did it.

Not that I'm aware of! They were such a pain back in the day...I remember cussing at them terribly!

Cheers,

If I recall, you need to carefully break the seal at the top corner... but it must have been at least 20 years since I last had the pleasure of opening one! I have vague memories of sliding a screw driver to slowly work it free, but if you fail, you'll most likely damage the corners... good luck!

18.95 is a pretty good price for all that I must say!

You may have to steam the cardboard gently to soften the glue.

You may then be able to glue it back on afterwards, but I think the cardboard may suffer.

It's a stock photo... :(

I paid $60 plus shipping for this, pricy considering that $18.95 - maybe 1989/91 price - should be about $40 in today's Dollars, but still a slight saving considering the individual prices for the command figures.

I think I recall having to do something to the two corners and a shame I didn't save the one container. I wonder why GW abandoned this type of packaging in favor of cardboard boxes, since a 12 man regiment could easily fit inside one, along with a painting guide on the back.

It's a plastic container, not a blister pack. I was thinking of freezing the container, but the corners aren't held by glue - it looks like melted plastic.

Step 1: Try to cut/pry open with a thin and sharp hobby knife.

Step 2: Let knife slip and cut your fingers horribly.

Step 3: Wash the blood off your hands and apply bandaids as appropriate.

Step 4: Repeat step 1-3 untill you are too angry or have too little blood left to continue.

Step 5: Destroy the box with some pliers and take out the sweet, sweet miniatures inside.
