Hi retro gamers!!

I have just finished a 1989 Rogue Trader Land Raider in old school salamanders colours...complete with a hand painted banner and sigils!

Am i the only one that thinks this is a tad disrespectful, using the showroom for blog promotion rather than posting pics of your work ?

I have to admit, that was my first thought also, especially as there isn't even a link to that particular blog post or a single picture in the original post.

Having said that it is a nice looking model and looks good flanked by the other oldschool tanks.

I can't say if it's disrespectful or not but it is a pain for lazy individuals like myself

Who exactly am I meant to have disrespected?

Have I slated your mother or individually selected a member of the community for a bit of a shoe'ing.

I think you'd be hard pushed to see who's individual rights I have trampled in this harmless post.

Whilst I would love to spend the entirety of my life posting the same pictures across the internet I sadly hold down two jobs and care for a severely handicapped relative; so excuse me if I try to cut the odd corner.

Jesus; get a grip.

Disrespectful is not really the word I would use but I would tend to agree that the showroom should actually be a place to have images. There is already a facility for automatically notifying when a blog post appears on your site available to forum members (Edit - Newsfeeds ). I am not aware of any specific guidelines but seems like common sense to me - perhaps a Mod can clarify.

Disrespectful? Not for me, just someone wanting to share their Oldhammer goodness...

For info, you can add your blog to the news-feeds thread in General (I don't know how the jiggery-pokery technical details work) and automate your updates.

[edit - the Chancellor beat me too it regarding newsfeeds]

I would just like to clarify, because upon rereading I don't think it was clear in my initial post, that I don't think it is disrespectful but do agree that this section of the forum ought to be for showcasing miniatures rather than blog promotion as there is a place for that already.

I hope I did not offend.

I have to admit, when I saw this I thought if you can't be bothered to post a pic or even a proper link, then I can't be bothered to take a look.

I'm all for driving up traffic for a blog but IMO it's lazy not to post at least one pic within the showcase forum. And whilst I commend you for holding down two jobs and looking after your disabled relative it doesn't take two seconds to press control+v to paste a pic, people could then go take a look if they liked what they saw.

But I personally wouldn't have said disrespectful it does come across as a advert for your blog and not a contribution to "Oldhammer" forums and as you have more posts than I do, I can see that you contribute more than I so I'll bow out of this here just adding it never hurts anyone to be a bit more tactful (OP and Porkaborg)

Oh and OP nice Tanks

Oh BTW is there some setting the powers at be can set in the forums so that when I click on a link it doesn't open in the same browser window that I'm reading the forum with. I find it tedious to right click and open in a new tab and would rather it did it, and saving me a click (Lazy I know). I like to browse threads like this click on links and finish reading this forum before moving onto other peoples blogs, links and eBay shenanigans

I apologize for the use of disrespectful , i just find it really annoying thats all. This is a forum section where you post pictures of your painted figures and not the blog advert section , thats why it pisses me off with your shamesless ''I coulndt be bothered posting a single pic on your forum go check my blog attitude''.

Whilst I would love to spend the entirety of my life posting the same pictures across the internet I sadly hold down two jobs and care for a severely handicapped relative; so excuse me if I try to cut the odd corner.

Jesus; get a grip.

This is single handedly the most pathethic thing i have ever read on the internet . Excusing your lazyness with a hanidcapped relative shame on you . I can't see how hard it can be to copy paste an URL hahah.

Same as I see it on other forums, I think it's pretty lazy to simply say "visit my blog". For one thing, I prefer browsing forums in the first place, and much rather post comments, read other people's and ask questions here than on a blog. All you need to do is copy and paste all the text and image links in one go here.

Besides, if you post the info here, if it's any good (which it is, I rather enjoyed the post along with the Epic stuff) people will notice, remember and follow your blog.

(Besides, there's already a news feed section here for just this sort of thing)

If you are using Google Chrome you can use the middle mouse button as it will by default open links in a new tab.

I do use Chrome but I have tried it with IE and it still does the same... But on other forums when I click on a link it opens in a new browser tab whether it's Chrome or IE. I think it's the way forum is setup and is probably changeable in the settings. Having hosted several of them over the years for various games and hobbies, they're all pretty similar in their customisableness (is that even a word )

I could hold down ctrl+click for opening in a new tab but that smacks of Apple+Click to me... and again I refer to my laziness of having to hold down an extra button.

All;
Thank you for the feedback. I shall endeavour to become more au fait with the relevant technology and put up some relevant photos in my next post. I have to say this has generated more interest than most other posts!

As for the original respondent; Pokaborg; having had a chance to calm down and re-read your message and your subsequent eloquent response I have re-evaluated my initial reaction....and sadly have to conclude my initial instinct was right; you're a c*ck!!

Before this all descends (further) into mud slinging and childish name calling, I think it's worth making a couple of points.

Legiocustodes: I think Porkaborg had a fair point when he pointed out that this is the Showroom. A place for posting pictures of painted models. As a few people have pointed out, it takes seconds to post a picture from your blog onto the forum. If you don't want to do that, by all means sign your blog up to the newsfeed, and all of your new blog posts will automatically appear in that section of the forum.

However, I think the tone and language of Porkaborg's post was heavy handed, and something a little more friendly would have been better. I can see why you reacted to them like you did. It's probably time to take on board what has been said in this thread and move on now though.

Porkaborg: You make a fair point, but it might be worthwhile taking a couple of minutes to think about the language and tone used in your posts in the future, I'm sure you weren't trying to deliberately offend, but this is the internet and people can react in all sorts of ways to your posts.

Let's all be friends!

I think everyone should all remember what's really important here, and that's worshipping me as a God. Bring me Bacon and Dr Pepper Zero!
