1989 Citadel Painting guide 40k Diarama

On the back of the blue 1989 Citadel Painting Guide (which personally, i think is a nice little starting point) there was a nice diarama of a 40K squat .. trench being attacked by Oaks, while the Squats are backed up by some Marines.

While fairly flat (it's a cutaway) i always loved this one. there was alot to see with the orks attacked from various points and some traps seeing how they were defending. But it doesn't credit who it was that did it.. I'm kinda leaning towards Mike McVey who did alot of stuff at the time and his painting features alot in the booklet.

Also, one thing that always annoied me is it looks like there is more to it. maybe not a lot, but enough as some orks are gaining entry on the rightt, and there is a couple of things going on in the left.. Does anyone know of a larger shot of this one? Maybe it's at Warhammer world now but.. that's pretty far for me to travel to and not something that is going to happen anytime soon.

If it's the one I'm thinking of with the 'red sky' then it is "Orc Assault" and is indeed by Mike McVey. There is a better picture of it (portrait rather than landscape) on the back of White Dwarf 111, although I suspect even that crops it a little. I can't recall seeing it at Warhammer World, but I've not been for some years now.

Ah, that's the one, thanks.

It also finally answers he question of the weird marine.. he kinda looked like it was getting ready for a jump attack but the more you look, you notice the armours are in the wrong plac, and the head would be backwards and it wasn't right at all.. with this image, you can see he was in fact being shot and falling backwards.

also.. mm.. don't remember seeing an Stormboyz using a rhino before but makes sense they would have pinched one from some place.
