1987 Rogue Trader Embroidered patches - did they get released?

Ok, I'm currently going through some of the hordes of boxed up stuff that was recently rediscovered in my parent's loft from when I worked at GW in the late 80s/early 90s, and I found these:

The Dark Angel one shows up on the CCM website, but my question is did they actually get released into stores for sale, or were they give aways or staff only? I'd have grabbed them from MO or the studio. I've seen a few come up on eBay over the years, but not sure if they made it to retail.

Any ideas?

Not something I ever recall seeing, but then again trips to the GW store were a little bit of a luxury as a kid! Love things like that these days, the associated ephemera of the hobby. I some stickers in my collection in that vein I must post along these lines.

weren't they released by... I can't remember but wasn't it the one like a sub-license? I remember some patches or adverts for some GW themed ones back in the 90s when they were still a bit of the rage from the 80s. might be wrong.. more remembering adverts in some comics/magazines of the time more then GW products like WD...

There were some later ones released by Bulldog Badges IIRC, but that was much later in the 90s, I left in 91. I’m pretty sure these were made for the release of RT in ‘87 or not much later.

yeah, I was more thinking early 90s but possible got got confused with the later ones. trying to remember things which I didn't deem important back then makes it tricky.

Well I suspect from reading the blog and comments that enough people have copies of them that they would have been sold in GW stores - or at least some stores.

The SpaceWolf one is on ebay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/236298420064
, not seen any of the others in my idle browsing just now.

Maybe we should all co-opt this thread (once we've concluded if the patches were for general sale or if some just escaped) for our GW ephemera and random bits we've got other than miniatures? I've a few old and newer oddments and even some of the later stuff is quite interesting, I'll confess to having a soft spot for the servo skull tape measure and lasgun power pack dice box despite never having actually owned or seen them in the flesh.

There is a blog from Realms of Chaos 80s from a few years ago on them http://realmofchaos80s.blogspot.com/2016/08/warhammer-chic-look-at-citadel-patches.html
Link in the blog takes you to fuller list here http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Badges

When I saw your post I recalled reading about them before, but just ran a quick Google search to find where! ;)
Ah, cheers, missed that in my searches. (though I did link to the CCM page in my original post!)

So they did see some general release, or at the very least were sent to stores to do with as they pleased. Someone in the comments noted they were given some by a UK store manager because they'd come all the way from the USA, lol.

The Servo Skull tape measure looked kinda cheap in the flesh. Have seen some great ones that have been repainted though.
