GG 2026 A Waaagh (or Oink?) for Golden Gobbo

This thread is part of the Golden Goblin painting competition 2026. Please see the entry thread for full details.
Can't remember if you said what you are sculpting with these days. ^_^ and one day you will decide to make some moulds for some minor bits like shields for others. Pretty sure you'll have some takers.

Thank you so much, guys🙏
I mostly use tamiya putty, the quick-drying type; i also use GS, but i find that with the tamiya obtaining crisper details is simpler; and it is possible to sand it down very effectively.
A mix of the two can be useful in some instances, as well.
Re: the moulds...why not? The pig-helmet orc taker is rapidly building up a career as an indi sculptor and has already got all the gear needed...i will ask him about producing a batch, sooner or later (hobby time is limited, you know😓): sculptinģ is proving to be great fun and much (MUCH😅) quicker than painting for me.

As I already told you, this little side project was born out of gratitude: a friend gave me a painted mini and I owe him one.
I am now toying with the idea of going the extra mile and indulging in a thing which has been luring me forever : a little boxed diorama - or 2, one for each PigBro.
Not wanting to invest too much time on this, my intention would be to keep things simple, taking inspiration from these artworks by Paul Bonner: rocks, moss, basic conifer trees and, hopefully, some kind of fog effect in the background. I'd definitely avoid loading the things with too much flora as per the last project...

Paul Bonner orcs and gobbos are my favs. Large brow ridges, tiny beady eyes, wonderfully overly exaggerated mouths. Sinister looking.

EDIT
Posts moved from the A slowly growing Waaagh! thread as an entry to 2026 Golden Gobbo
Editing reason: posts moved by staff

This summer progress
As usual, i redid most of the already completed work on both minis, with changes to the halberd and the foot cover of my friend's orc and a radical resculpt of my pig-orc.
I also made its face shield taking inspiration from a troll illustration by the great Paul Bonner
the more I see this the more I like it.

Trying to get a well worn effect
Working on the glove has revealed quite hard due to low quality casting: with a bit of putty I tried to smoothen the middle fingers and the thumb, hiding the nails on them, which on the original sculpt are clearly visible, as if the hand was bare; I also modelled the two outer fingers as if they had been ripped out.

Staff, pig-helm and d*ckface-shield left.

In the first pic you can get a glimpse of a lucky occurrence: my crappy sculpting left a chip/indent on the tip of the thumb, giving me the opportunity to paint it as a hole in the leather, with the nail poking out😁

Oh my, he's looking epic. And a timely reminder to get painting for GG. Can't wait to see this one completed.

It's not a limit in your skill, it's a sign that your skill is better then you think as it's doing something without you being aware of it ^_^
